Hours of Service (HOS) refers to the maximum amount of time drivers are permitted to be on duty including driving time, and specifies number and length of rest periods, to help ensure that drivers stay awake and alert. In general, all carriers and drivers operating commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) must comply with HOS regulations found in 49 CFR 395.
At FSC, we review current policies and procedures and determine if it is in line with FMCSA standards. We review CSA scores to identify problem areas and provide written policies if needed and up to date training.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) has strict regulations for driver hours of service (HOS) compliance. At FSC, we have years of experience logging and auditing. This experience gives FSC the advantage in the classroom that will benefit your drivers while training them about (DOT) Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, compliance and auditing requirements.
The main benefits of the training include:
- Who these regulations apply to
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) terms under part 395 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)
- Maximum drive time
- 34 hour restart
- Sleeper berth
- Form and Manner
- Demonstration of correctly completed logs (RODS)
- Exemptions that may pertain to you and your company and how and when to use them.
